Neil Sharma, MD

Dr. Sharma has served as the Founder and Director of Interventional and Endoscopy Oncology Services at Parkview since 2013. Using state-of-the-art equipment, Dr. Sharma is able to diagnose, stage, palliate and treat certain cancers. In 2014 he became the Medical Director for the GI Oncology Program which has experienced exponential growth. During his time as Medical Director, the GI Oncology program has initiated trials, added a variety of new innovative procedures, presented at the ASCO Conference and developed several patient centric clinical pathways for multidisciplinary care.
He developed the universal presentation for all patients through the tumor board for foregut GI cancers to provide true multi-disciplinary care – which has become a hallmark of the program. He has completed fellowships and is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, advanced interventional endoscopy & endoscopic oncology. Dr. Sharma is actively involved in a variety of clinical trials and publications, and serves on the National Practice Management Committee for the American College of Gastroenterology. He is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Physicians and American Society of Clinical Oncology. On July 1st, Dr. Sharma assumed the role of President of Parkview Cancer Institute.
Dr. Sharma earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center and his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of South Florida. He also completed fellowship training in advanced interventional endoscopy & endoscopic oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
